Get the Festive Glow

Whether you’re spending a sun-filled day with your family or partying it up with friends in the evening; it’s easy to inject a little festive spirit into your makeup.

Lay the right foundations

You’ll need a long lasting base to stick with you throughout the duration of the festivities. Oil-free formulations work best to shield against the summer heat; if you’re celebrating outside be sure to pick a formulation with an inbuilt sunscreen. To get even more longevity from your base, set foundation with a thin but even layer of powder. This will help keep oily skin at bay and hold your foundation in place.

Get that festive glow

Glowing cheeks are the key to fun, festive-season looks. Powder blushes are a great option because they’ll last through the day or night with minimal effort. Try a pink shade for that fresh, girlie glow or opt for peach if you prefer a more sun-kissed look. Use a blush brush to concentrate colour on the apples of your cheeks and, if you’re feeling like a little extra festive cheer, dab a shimmering liquid highlighter onto the cheekbones.

Sparkle and Shine

Nothing says ‘festive season’ more than a little sparkle and shine. A touch of glittery eye shadow will make your eyes light-up the night; opt for festive shade like gold, silver or green. If you’re celebrating during the day a soft gold or champagne will enhance your eyes without looking OTT.

Lashings of fun

A simple wash of shimmery shadow needs va-va-voom lashes to finish the look. To get extra flutter out of your lashes try using a lash primer under your favourite mascara or, if you’re feeling adventurous, go for false lashes.

Pucker up

The icing on the cake is a gorgeous lip colour to tie your whole makeup look together. Any colour goes but reds are the perfect shade for the Festive Season. Try to keep your lip shade in line with your blush, if you’ve opted for pink blush shades go for a cool-toned red. Warm yellow or orange toned reds look beautiful with peach blush. To get extra wear out of your lip colour use a lip liner as a base. Chose a shade close to your natural lip colour and completely fill in the lips; this will help your lip colour to last longer and also allow it to wear evenly throughout the day.

Spread the Christmas cheer!

Don’t forget to take your ‘touch up’ products to your festive season event. Small bags don’t allow you to tow around an arsenal of makeup products, so be selective about what you take. A powder compact and your lipstick should do the trick.

Now you’re ready to look fabulous throughout the Festive Season.
