Have Great Looking Skin At Any Age

Your skin works hard for a living. As the biggest organ in the body, it’s a real multi-tasker, regulating water loss and temperature, turning sunlight into Vitamin D and protecting us from harmful toxins. It does a great job, and how do we repay it? We prod and poke it, clog it up with makeup, bake it in the sun and then curse it for succumbing to spots or wrinkles.

Keep hydrated

If you want your skin to love you back you have to treat it right – and the first thing it would ask for if it could is a good long drink. Don’t feel you have to gulp down litres of mineral water though – there’s water in all kinds of drinks, soups, fruit and veg. Wine doesn’t really count though.
In fact, it’s one of the worst things you can feed your skin.  You guessed it – those old favourites alcohol, caffeine and chocolate are real baddies as far as a good complexion goes. Now and then is fine, but if you overdo any of them, you’ll see the effects written all over your face.

Easy everyday skin habits

Once the inside’s sorted, what about the outside? Keeping skin clean and supple is a big part of every woman’s daily drill, but it’s easy to get in a rut and start cutting corners out of boredom.

Have a good look at all the bottles and potions lined up in your bathroom and ask yourself which ones you still love, and which you’re buying out of habit. Revamping your cleanse-tone-moisturise routine with some fresh products can turn a chore into a treat, and don’t forget to ringfence some time for an indulgent home facial once in a while: a moisturising mask will leave skin glowing.

Be sun-safe

Of course it’s no good pampering your skin if you’re going to let the sun undo all your good work. Even in winter, harmful UV rays are busy carving wrinkles into your face, neck and hands – look around any beach in the world to spot the leathery results of a life-time’s sun-worshipping.
Worse still, letting your skin burn can set up changes at cellular level which could lead to skin cancer – definitely not worth the risk. Achieve a sun-kissed look with self-tanning products, and then pile on the SPFs – no daytime moisturiser worth its salt fails to include UV protection these days, and look for protective handcreams too.
