Champagne and nibbles were flowing at the Wella and Max Factor masterclass that we held at the beginning of the month. The room was filled with Rouge beauty lovers, all assembled to discuss their favourite topics. Hair and Make Up! Accompanying our members were 2 of Rouge’s experts. First, we had Michael Brennan, Wella Pro Series expert who demonstrated how to get three gorgeous hair styles to suit any time of day. Need to go from Office Professional to Glamourpuss in the stroke of a brush? He showed us how. Next, we had Liz Kelsh, Max Factor celebrity make-up artist who showed us how to create different looks to match the styles. We couldn’t have asked for more. But we got it! All our Rouge members went home with customised goody bags, filled with products selected specifically for them by our experts. Look out for the next Rouge event and make sure join – you wouldn’t want to miss it.
What are your favourite beauty products at the moment?
Alison T: I have three favourites. I love Olay Regenerist at the moment, it’s amazing. It makes my skin feel so smooth. I am also loving Moroccan Oil...it is divine and leaves my hair so soft. I also love the Pantene 3 Minute Miracle treatments which are great treatment and are fantastic on my hair.
Alison L: I am obsessed with Illuminator by MakeupForever. It’s just a little tube and you can use it on your nose on your eyes and nose and makes your face glow.
Jenni: Estee Lauder Bronzer. I use it every day!
What was your favourite part about the event this evening?
Zoe: The make-up tutorial was great. I loved learning how to apply different products, using different colours, layering, and not being scared of make-up because you can just wipe it off if it doesn’t work.
Alison L: Seeing Michael do the hair curls. I am definitely going to try and get that amazing glamorous look.
Caroline: I liked the one-on-one session at the end of the night. The personalised session made it relevant for me and I got great products which I can take home.
Jenni: Was great to talk to the hair stylist one on one. What I really wanted was an honest answer on what hairstyle would suit my face and it was great to find out.
What did you learn that you can now take home with you?
Alison T: When you’re putting on your foundation, avoid your eyelids and your lips! I always would start with applying foundation all over so I had a blank canvas!
Vicky: Learning how to disguise dark circles under the eyes and learning how to highlight you best features. Tricks I just wouldn’t otherwise have known! I also loved it when Liz said it’s important that I’m wearing the makeup and it’s not wearing me.
Caroline: I really liked using the eyeliner as the full shadow. I often do smokey eyes with shadow but being able to do it with eyeliner and have the staying power is something that will be great.
Would you rather go out without your hair done or with no make-up?
Alison T: Hmmm....without hair done but that is tough! If your hair and makeup is done you feel more confident even if they are only subtle.
Alison L: Without my hair done as well. For me I just have a passion for make-up – I love the whole process, I love testing things and trying new looks everyday.
Jenni: That’s so hard! I think probably without make-up because having a great hairstyle helps the overall look. If you have limp flat hair, great make-up isn’t going to change that.
What hair products do your normally use?
Alison T: At the moment I have Head & Shoulders shampoo and Pantene Nourished Shine conditioner. But I’m always changing. I usually tend to go for what’s on special. I am happy to try anything so long as it works.
Vicky: I love using an anti frizz shampoo and conditioner and I also use the dry shampoo. I also try to do a treatment once a week.
What’s your favourite hair style that you learnt about tonight?
Alison T: The curls! I will try definitely them at home! They looked amazing. I just need to buy a curling tong. I’ve tried with a straightened but as Michael said, you tend to get flat spots.
Liana: The curls! I just don’t think I could ever have done them by myself so someone taking me through the steps and watching the process was great.
Vicky: The curls! I usually curl with a GHD but as Michael said it’s much better to use a curling tong if you want volume. So I’m 100% going to invest in curling tongs now. He also said the smaller the curling iron the better the curl will hold for longer hair, which is s great tip for me!
Would you attend another event like this?
Zoe: I definitely would!
Liana: Yep definitely, I love these type of nights.
Vicky: Most definitely. So many inside tips you wouldn’t know about otherwise. I’m walking away a lot more confident
Why do you use Rouge and how long have you been a member?
Alison T: I’ve been on Rouge for the past few months and since joining I’ve loved reading up on the products. Even if I personally don’t use them it’s great to always know what’s out there. And I love all the promotions, especially when you’re able to attend nights like this. Champagne, goody bags, what’s not to love? The emails are great as well. I love reading about the new promotions each week. There are so many websites, but if you get an email that personalises the whole process it makes the website so much easier to navigate.
Caroline: I’ve been on Rouge for about 6 months and I like that I get sent the emails every other week because it encourages me to look at what’s out there. And then you get to attend nights like this!
Do any of your friends use Rouge? Will you tell them about it now?
Alison L: I came along tonight as my friends +1 and didn’t use Rouge before but I definitely will now. I would love more nights like this!
Jenni: I’ll definitely sign up now.
What’s your favourite product you got tonight in your goody bag?
Liana: I like all of it but I am excited to try the hair products!
Alison L: The Max Factor foundation for sure, it looks really creamy!
Caroline: I am really looking forward to using the Wella Pro Series Volume shampoo to give my hair some more moisture and bounce.
Jenni: I love the idea of a foundation that lasts from day to night so I’m excited for the Max Factor foundation.

I’m always sceptical about these nights, i have corse frizzy dry hair and i never see anyone who looks like me with my type of hair at these events. Always wavy hair, tall thin beauties. I’m not saying that wrong, but what about those people who want to look nice but dont fit into the normal boxes. does that make sense….
